Rapaël Library

Go to http://raphaeljs.com/ to see some of the demos. This is an awesome library and I just had to start experimenting with it as soon as I found out about it.

Have you noticed the vertical menus on the side? Well, the rotating text is done using Rapaël! Open up joe.js to see how I do this.

What's great about using Rapaël for these menus is that I can use non-obtrusive JavaScript on the markup so that search engines or people not using JavaScript (if there still are any) see just a normal block element complete with the menu title. For those with JavaScript, the menu name is replaced with an image that is generated using SVG or VML (depending on browser) that can then be rotated using the same technologies.

The example on this website is pretty basic so you should definitely check out the demos on http://raphaeljs.com/. However, I'd like to hear your opinions on the usability of the menus. They are a bit of a gimmick but I think that they are quite intuitive as they are similar to tabs that you can insert into folders to keep your place.
